Does anyone have any experience with these? I have a trade offer. Just wondering what you all thought.

I'm not sure what the Samick is made of, but the Johnson has a transparent finish and looks like a one piece body.

The samicks are nice guitars! I have a hard time seeing a strat-type with a 3+3 headstock though- just don't look right. Hell of a player none the less.

As for the johnsons, I have no clue on them.

I've had a few Johnson instruments over the years, and played a lot more. The quality varies wildly, but when they are good ones, they are in the Jay Turser realm. Fair-to-decent and probably fun to mod (though they may not take Fender parts...)

Johnsons are VERY hit and miss... if you like it, then it will be fine, I suppose.

Never played a Bennett Strat, but the PRS and LP styles are very good for the money.

I've got a Samick (not GB) strat that I like. It's my avatar. Like most squiers, it needs upgrades. I may put a spare Strat neck on it to lose the pointy peghead.
Here, the pawns are flooded with the cheap copies, from Squiers to Samick/GB/Johnson/Cort/Turser. Other than Squier, the rest are selling for $50 to $85.

I give the johnson big points actually. i have the trans red strat. Most resonant guitar I own for some reason. Nothing special electrically but decent but just practicing unplugged it will vibrate you? I also had a white strat body. I stripped it because the grain on my trans was so great. This was was great too. Friend has a johnson tele and it always sounds and plays better than his mim fender. Had a cheap dreadnaught in blue. It was cheap as hell but played killer and still showed some grain through the the deep blue stain. I also have a resonator . I thought the frets could be better and the tone was a little weak. But it was fun as hell and plays fine and dirt cheap. Later I played a big name model at GC for $1000 and found it played identical. I think the same assembly line. But mine was prettier. All these will be hit and miss but dont just skip over any johnson.
I bought a teen a samick 3+3 gb malibu strat years ago because it was the best in that $120 range at the time by a mile. It played great but I particularly remember liking that it felt half way between a fender and a gibson neck. That way later he could comfortably move to whatever brand he wanted. I still play it when I visit him.
Maybe the finished product samick is better than the finished johnson but if the johnson had a trans finish I'd take it and if ever needed upgrade parts. BTW I use the pups and electronics in my squier std. I put it in as aget by measure but I've played practice and gigs with it so they arent too bad.
