Berzoi pups!
(cute, ain't they?)

Absolutely ! Direct from the Afghanistan or Caucasian mountains... A friend of mine has one, her name is Tchaîka. She likes to run, like my pal (he runs marathons , she's his coach ;) !).

Anybody heard about them ?

About russian pickups, DrBeGood, I was ready to see that you have found some 60's pickups coming from the Aelita accordion and guitar factory, at Rostov-on-the-Don...

OK, I stop...

A+!

Pribora's pickups certainly have a distinctive "raw" sound. When you watch his demo video, he appears to be "chewing" something. It has been said, but never confirmed, that he chews the pickup wire before he winds the pickup. In Russia, this is called a "scatter chomp" wound pickup, which may well be the secret behind the raw Ruskie tone.
