Brother in arms!It seems we’re on a similar quest! I have a thing for the ‘60s Fender custom colors in particular. My guitars were all in the $120-225 range (don’t really want to spend more than $250.) All are currently stock but they were bought with the intention to modify. I’m working on a build plan for each of them which I want to begin executing in the new year.
My current lineup:
- Arctic White Affinity Jazzmaster
- Burgundy Mist Metallic Affinity Tele Deluxe
- Charcoal Frost Metallic Affinity Tele Deluxe
- Graphite Metallic Contemporary Jazzmaster
- Ice Blue Metallic Affinity Tele
- Olympic White Affinity Tele
- Shell Pink Bullet Strat
- Surf Green Affinity Strat (on the way)
- Surf Green Bullet Mustang (this one’s probably going to be sold)
- Vintage Blonde Vintage Modified ‘51
I’ve been on the lookout for a deal on a Lake Placid Blue Affinity Tele. They’re available new for $250 but I’d prefer not to pay full price if I can avoid it. I may end up just biting the bullet though... A Shoreline Gold Contemporary Jaguar would be nice too but not at $400!

Graffiti Yellow and Lime Green are definitely my favorites! They're right at the top of my bucket list, and I’ve been dreaming of adding them to my collection for a while now. The vibrant colors are just so unique, and I think they’d stand out so well! Here are the "less than standard" colored Squiers in my Collection
- Graffiti Yellow Sonic Strat
- Lime Green Sonic Strat
- Ocean Blue Metallic Contemporary Strat
- Sapphire Blue Transparent Strat-O-Sonic
- Aztec Gold Paranormal Troublemaker
- Surf Pearl Contemporary Starcaster
- Pearl White Contemporary Telecaster RH
(Included some closeups to show the pearlescent finishes)

As the former buyer for a musical instrument shop (as in I made all the purchasing for what the shop carried as stock) as well as a former Guitar Center employee I believe I have some insight.i’ve been wondering why the most commonly available Squier models in stores tend to be in classic colors like black, white, and sunburst.
Yeah they're great colors and super vibrant in person too.Graffiti Yellow and Lime Green are definitely my favorites! I’ve actually never owned a Sonic model before, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts on them. How do they compare to the Affinity series? Are they up to par in terms of quality, or do you feel they might be a bit lower? I’m wondering if the Sonic line has the same level of craftsmanship or if there are noticeable differences in the parts and sound.
Glad to hear that! The only Bullet I own is a 2012 Telecaster in black. All the parts I've bought fit perfectly, and I’ve had no issues installing them.Yeah they're great colors and super vibrant in person too.
So I think differences are relatively slim between the Sonics and Affinities with the affinities having an edge in build quality and probably better necks. I haven't had my hands on an affinity lately to really say. They're pretty on par with the Bullet series that they replaced.
My Sonics were originally SSS and HSS; I thought the ceramic humbucker was pretty thin, but the single coils are actually alright, not great but alright. Either way, wasn't what I was looking for and I replaced the electronics in all of them. These do have thinner bodies, but I did not have a problem fitting anything in the cavities.
The Necks on them are alright, for the most part frets were pretty good. I took some time to really clean up fret ends and hit the edges with a sanding block to make it a little more comfortable.
Yo, this is seriously a rare one! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it!This is an FSR color, 2014 that was an exclusive issue thru Long & McQuade (Canada). There may be other chain stores in other countries that I'm unaware of.
Gold bronze metallic (2014) also available on a bound Telecaster.

Check out the prices of Squier guitars in "Baltic Blue", at one point people were nearly giving them away .. why Fender chose that color befuddles me.View attachment 305609i’ve been wondering why the most commonly available Squier models in stores tend to be in classic colors like black, white, and sunburst.
I’m on a personal quest to collect some unique-colored Squier guitars and could use your help! If you know of any Squier guitars in unusual or rare colors, please share! I’m open to any models, but for the series, I’d prefer to stick with Bullet, Sonic, or Affinity (I want to have some fun modding, so no Classic Vibe for now).
Feel free to include any pics if you have them! Thanks!![]()
