Question about off-planet jobs

I am considering new employment in resource extraction, but its in a system at the far reaches.
Its 57 years of cryosleep to get there. I haven't gone down that long before.
Its like, what if the company fails in a few decades, they file bankruptcy and they just leave you floating in space, ya know?
Even if someone recovers our vessel, its not like anyone back on Earth in HR that hired me will even be around still to be held accountable.
Heck, I won't know anyone by then. How common is identity theft in these situations? I don't want to wake up broke because someone stole my bonus while I was asleep. Does it seem like a scam? The company has a favorable rating and seemingly decent tech.

I recently had an issue with my Bezos contract.

You see we had agreed to medical treatment and a medical bay as a condition a stipulation if you would of my tenure with Amazon Bezos inc.

Jeff had me mining Dilithium crystals out in quadrant nine, a good nap away but nothing major. Everything was great, we were appeasing master Bezos and I ended up spraining my ankle.

Wouldn't ya know that Mr Bezos has his way of dealing with disability and workplace injuries. That mofo had me led to the docking bay of the ship, left me alone and tried to open the doors to blow me out into space and save on medical costs. Luckily in the time line I am from we saw that movie with Arnold where they sold oxygen on that planet and the girl had 3 boobs. I quickly held on and found an oxygen supply.


Stowing away for 8 lightyears until we returned to earth was hell though. The ships crew only takes ancient gold coins as payment, and it took all I had to get back into the cryochamber and labelled as a non injured human asset.

I would be wary my friend. You never know, these guys will just eject you into space to avoid any sort of accountability. CYA.

I heard sometimes when you come back, you glitch. Like one time they put me back in a cloned new body, and I could not stop craving crustaceans. I hate lobster and crabs.

Its more reliable than beaming tech used to be.
After the Skroob act took place, they banned the use of those old micro converters that were always malfunctioning.

Well in Starfleet space you can hear phasers and torpedoes and warp drives, so this makes sense
