Well got a twin, seem to like these for some reason. Deal was fair. $50 with Fender padded gig bag and original accessories. Has a nice fresh setup and new strings and I just love these.
Have been enjoying this one, played it in my car during break and it really resonates acoustically and has a nice looking fretboard. I can see the grain thru the wood making me wonder what kind of wood was used, even though it says Alder could be something else who knows.
I am looking for another Wilkinson Steel Block tremolo to order to go on this one. It has the 2 3/16" spacing so upgrading should be as smooth as the other Affinity I just did with the typical block sticking out the back of the body so the cover needs spacers to go on. Not an issue for me because I like having the cover off.
I picked this up for the guitar today. Grover Allman really slick strap I think I could do some tricks with it if I wanted, and the ends are real leather. Then they threw in some Fender celluloid picks for free.
So just ordered a Gold Wilkinson 5+1 Tremolo for this guitar, and I had already ordered some bushing adapters for the set of Kluson tuners I already have. Already have a gold jack too. So here are the upgrades I am doing. Probally wait until the strings get ready to be changed before I upgrade which won't take long about the time the items start to arrive I am hoping.
Sweet ! Looking forward to completed pics. Congrats on the good price, everything around me is always higher priced and I can't figure out why, but if I want a good price I have to order something without being able to try it out first.
Thank you, yeah the prices are great around here. I used to live in an area like that and honestly shipping is cheaper than gas, so I used to order quite a few and always liked the ones I ordered.
Thank you! Ok so the neck I steel wooled and spray with a tinted gloss 1 step process. Can add additional coats for a darker tint but the first coat is looking good to me, takes 24 to cure then the tuners and bushings will go on.
Ok so all the parts are on the body plus a Gold custom neck plate. Took the parts off my Squier II because the Klusons where not working out right, they it this neck better since there is more room, they overhung at the bottom on the Squier II neck and the SE neck.
Put on the Might Mite 5-1 trem and it does not stick out as much as the other Affinity where I put a wilkinson on that was not 5+1 but vintage style. Put on a Gold jack and some gold pickguard screws, I'm not using a trem cover but went ahead and put on the trem cover screws to fill in the holes with for now. Put on the Gold Fender strap locks.
Just waiting on the neck to dry to finish this out and take some pictures. I'm thinking 12-24 hours for the paint to dry enough to finish it out.
Ok so I put another coat on to darker the tint a little more. Then once it cured I hammered in the bushing adapters and slowly & carefully installed the Kluson tuners. I like the way it turned out, going to wait a little while before I put some strings on.
Thank you. On the label of this one I read not for indoor or floor use which I interpret that it wears out, and it may yellow in the light so will see how it does in the long run if it will yellow more with age and get some nice wear patterns. I put some strings on her and played for a few minutes, don't have time to play it much today but at least the strings can be settling in.
Added a couple of gold humbuckers, just cut out a space in the current single ply and mounted them directly to the body for now until I get a hsh pickguard I like, or it sounds so good I might just leave it as is. Will have to get some pics made of them soon.
