Here is a 1983 Squier Bullet S3 that I just built/modded as a gift for a friend.
It has a December 1983 penciled neck date and an SQ serial number.

I got the body, bridge, neck and tuners for a hundred bucks and I added the pickguard, pickups and electronics. It plays and sounds excellent. These are truly great necks and I will be looking for a 2TSB version in the future for myself. Here are the pics!

I guess all the money you saved on the neck and body was spent on that fancy gaurd and pickups..:D
Came out looking real psychedelic to me... Kinda sixties looking... That's one nice gift!... Must be somebody special :)... There going to Love It..

Thanks!
Interesting observations about the guard. In person I was kinda thinking it looks more retro than modern. The design is called Variegated Gold Leaf and is organic in it’s appearance. Looking at my photos I can see where the design looks a bit flattened out compared to how it looks in person. I may try to capture a better pic of it.

How u end up with a pickguard for it? Make it urself with a trace of another from someone? 80's Bullet projects without a pickguard are kind of a pain in the a$$ as it aint easy getting a pickguard for one... Or a trace of another to copy...

The seller kept the original white guard but provided a tracing of it which worked out well for me. I wanted to make it a unique gift.

Looks a lot different with the combo of pickguard and black tuner knobs. U replace the knobs urself? Seems to be the original gotohs but without the original knobs....

Yep, stock Fender Japan Tuners with a set of Kluson mini black buttons. Direct replacements.
