So this baby arrived yesterday. The listing said it included a case and I assumed it would be a gator or a cheap musicians gear case... but I opened the box and it was in a Fender Jazzmaster case!

I was worried I wouldn't like the bridge since I'm so used to the stock bridge on my CV 60s Jazzmaster, but honestly I don't feel a difference.

How do you other J Mascis Jazzmaster owners feel they compare to the CV 60s model?

Happy NGD and congrats on that sweet case! I picked up a J Mascis not long ago and it's great. I originally planned on replacing the stock pickups but I really like them. Great neck, plays smooth. My only issue is that trem use throws it out of tune with the stock nut/bridge combo, but I don't use it much anyway.
A Fender trem drops right in with no mods, has a locking button/slide switch, and they don’t cost that much.nuts are also cheap and easy enough to replace.

What a coincidence. Mine is s'posed to arrive tomorrow. 3 music stores in my city and the best I can do is get onto a waiting list. A neighbouring province had one so I sure clikked the keys for it. 700 Cdn dollars. No case. It looks as though these Mascis models are selling like Bullets. Squier Bullets are also hard to get. I know, I tried.

Cool deal!

One always feels better having the proper case for a JM. I know, I bought a beater case for my old '66 back in the day and the wife said, "Here, let's order you a new one for your birthday."

Yup, it makes a difference, and one of my old Dano's fits nicely in the beater. :D

Congrats! Hope it's a good one. I've noticed that they get snatched up quickly on GC's when a used one comes up and there are none used on Reverb for less than 400 usd.

That's awesome! It's so cool when the wife (or husband) is supportive of the musician in their life. My wife has bought me 2 guitars already. That's when you know she's a keeper ;):D

I would have swooped that up so fast at $350 WITHOUT the case... the guys are the Garage Journal would lovingly say, YOU SUCK! :D

I've been trolling the GC website every morning looking for deals and I found this one before it was gone. I've noticed they get snatched up within hours of being posted. I got so lucky!

HNGD, a beauty. The case is probably worth $125 alone. You scored. Enjoy!

I bought one new for $170 on sale, so yeah, worth that all day long.

HNGD! Jazzmasters are the best guitars. Full stop (my opinion, of course).

I have a similar CP JM with the AOM bridge. I tried other options - the cheap roller bridges are all spaced wrong - so I went back to the AOM, which is fine.

I put a US AVRI trem on my VM JM and just the feel of it is an upgrade over the stock trem. I have tweaked the stock trem on my CV JM - just playing with the spring position, and it feels about 85% as good as the AVRI trem.

I have 4 Jazzmasters but I have a spot reserved for a Crafted in China (or Japan) J. Mascis JM...in my mind, at least.
