I see. As has been said many times, nothing is for certain with early MIJ guitars. For example the JV Fenders and Squiers were numbered differently but both started with JV. The ST-72 was also numbered differently with many starting with JV0xxxx.I wrote this so that there would be errors in dating, And the series was incorrectly dated as 1985-1986, although the correct date is 1983-1986, this is corrected now.
It seems you have discovered that the A serial was different as well. The red SST shown here at 21 frets has a low A000475 serial but a neck date of Oct 31 84, a long time after yours. It's possible then that the CST started early using a higher A0 number while the SST was still a JV.
But anything goes in this period. I have a JV4xxxxx which should be around March 83 but my neck is dated Aug 82, and the pots are stamped "20K" from around May 82.
