Build quality is excellent, Rockfield pickups have mixed reviews, I've only played two used (1 Strat, one conventional acoustic) with the pre-Rockfield pups, both sounded excellent.

They've had the 53DB in eclipse on sale a few times for $299, as well as the Forte portX in eclipse... and I've been mighty tempted by both of them. The 53DB has a tummy and forearm cut, and while I'd prefer S/P switching, the split coil setup could be easily converted with the stock electronics... but I already have an excellent cut HH Tele, I won't duplicate it for a paint job.
On the Forte Port X... I'd really like to play one first to see how the upper bout (side wall) sound hole works when singing while playing (theoretically, it could help keep you in tune vocally, but it could be distracting).

Good build. Great quality for the money. Only real complaints I have ever heard relate to some of the switches and pots not holding up to road use. The only other negative i ever heard is like any brand. Some folks like this pickup or that pickup, and hate others.
I had the Valor X with the Rockfield mafia pickups in it. I bought it used, but when a push pull pot went bad, MK sent the repair parts to the tech for free.
The shop I frequent sells them and I have not heard any complaints yet. They come with lots of pickup choices. The one even comes with Duncan pickups and the triple shot rings.

This is the guitar I want from them.

I had a vintage patriot for a while, I was quite impressed by the build quality, fit, finish, fretwork, and feel. The design factory, either you like them or you don't, same for the electronics and pickups. I suspect if you buy one expecting it to sound just like a vintage LP or whatever, you will be disappointed, but they sound like what they sound like. If you like the guitar but not the sound, mod it, if you like the sound, you are golden. I think in general they are underpriced for what you get, especially on the used market. Not as much as Agile's used to be, but more so than they are now.

YMMV, of course

Anyone in the St. Louis Area that wants to find out, there is a Patriot on the list for $200 asking, and it has been there a week or two.

The one I want. Has pickups in the saddles so you can switch between an electric acoustic sound to a humbucker or a mini humbucker, or combine them. Output capable of being split to two amps. This demo does not do it justice, but the other demo is on their site.

A corksniffer review of the one I want, only without the pickups in the saddles. Don't take offense. He goes over the guitar pretty well.

Good heavens, he made me wish I could reach into my phone and punch him every time he slapped his leg... if you've been making videos for YouTube for a while... you learn how to do things that don't annoy the viewers.

Apologies for the guy in the video. I wanted people to understand it wasn't getting a pass for anything.
Did you stay till he actually played it? That is the sound of the Rockfield pickups.
That one's big brother is called the Mod Shop 55 Fralin. Don't go listen to this one unless you really want a GAS attack.
Then there is cousin Mod Shop 55 Duncan.

Just picked up a used patriot q. Great build quality..rockfield swc pickups are pretty decent....but not great. For what you are paying, fantastic deal..I like the builds better than the epiphone standards.
