Matching cab?

I think about head looks better sitting on it matching cab. I like my stuff to be cohesive visually in that way. Howsaboutyous?

I don't worry about it. I like the sleeper effect of someone seeing my stuff and thinking it must suck, and then watching the reaction when the sound begins.

I prefer a matching head and cab, but will play through any damned thing.

Matching heads and cabs are very cool but not a necessity for me. I have some matched sets, but also have some cabs that match none of my amps and I like to play them as well.

Nope, MusicMan HD130 head atop a brace of Fender 1-15 cabs for my bass. All guitar amps are combo amps currently.

All my amps are combos except two and they both get played through the same 1x12 cab repurposed from an el cheapo raven combo I gutted.

I have several combos but my heads are all DIY so nothing matches. This one is plugged into a speaker cab from an old Akai reel to reel deck, loaded with a 10" Celestion Ten 30 that came with my '68 PRRI.

I do like the look of matched separates though.

I have a cab. 2 actually. The 1x8 Orange for the micro head, and a 1x12 V30. So one that matches and one amp/cab that doesn't. Was curious on yalls thoughts

And visually a complete change up with by bass rig, class D TC Electronic 500 watt amp & Peavey cab.

Personally, if I see a mismatched head and cab on stage, part of me kind of assumes the guitarist has some good reason for it and knows what they're doing custom-crafting their sound...

The ultimate example is when I saw Lightning Bolt back in the day and that dude just had a Mad Max-esque wall of random speaker cabs and amps, and it was louder than God's farts and it blew my brain into a thousand pieces.

But I don't think less of a guitarist if they match, so no biggie to me.

The OCD part of me prefers a matching set. At the bottom is a 10" cab I made out of a $10 dead Vox Pathfinder 15. When I ordered grill cloth for it, I could only find offcuts in the more traditional brown color, and it still bugs me that it isn't a match for the black cloth on the Cambridge 15 at the top. However, I did buy sufficient brown to convert the Cambridge to match the 10" cab, so I'll be able to rectify that when I get around to finishing this project. I like the brown more, it looks more vintage. I'll be removing the cheesy plastic Celestion badge too!

All these pics have me stoked for my matching Laney. The orange is sweet but a 1x8 is hardly more than a desk amp, although that bad boy is loud.

@TheCreepingSwarf you listen to Lightning Bolt? I think you might like em. Super loud and super weird and pretty heavy but with a sense of humor.
