Well, I can't eat liverwurst now as I have heart disease but as a child and young adult, I really liked it. Ate it in a sandwich----liverwurst on one slice of bread , butter on the other. Butter would be straight from the creamery, shaved from a block. I guess it is no wonder why I have had bypass surgery.

Crackers and cream cheese go pretty good with it. Some of it can be bitter, you have to try a few and see what you like. If you get into, pate is a good upgrade. Same principle, better ingredients, a little more refined, definitely smells better. Think tele vs strat,

I eat a small amount with a spoon after making liverwurst balls for my dog. I make it into 3 small balls and line them up in a row for my dog. She doesn't know the center one has an allergy tablet buried in it. It is the only way I can get her to take the med.

Have not had it since I was young, as I recall it was White bread mustard onion and the wurst. It wasn't too bad really.
I was a Butcher and Braunschwieger and Liverwurst are made the same but Braun is smoked. It is also safer to eat than "Worst". Both Liver sausage. Mostly Pork livers in Braun these days. Liverwurst was one of the Products that helped close Boars Head Factory with Listeria! I just ate some Braun last week and this week is Bologna!

I used to love it when I was a kid-- on a sandwich, just liverwurst, yellow mustard and bread. But don't/won't eat it anymore.
