Hello all,
I have an Ibanez Gio (pretty low rung model) incoming and I'm looking at different ideas for mods. Right now I'm thinking of going with a regular Strat-style pickguard. I know screw holes won't line up, not concerned with that. But neck pocket to bridge, cover the control cavity. That's what I'm looking at. Have any of you tried this procedure?

I'm also half-considering putting an Esquire pickguard on the front half and grafting that on there somehow.

I have a Jazzmaster neck that I got a year or so ago from a fellow Squire Talker to further make an abomination with (I don't get on with the typical Wizard neck, I'm more of a batre chord basher).

Any other thoughts?

@MrTornadoHead new pickguard? because you want to change it from HH? Curious how the body is routed.

I'd probably hack a hole in between to add a middle pickup, disguise my sloppy work with a pickup ring, then get matching rings for the humbuckers so it looks uniform.

You could always paint the guitar body and leave the pickguard black, or paint the pickguard a fun bright color.

The stock one looks fine, what do you want to change, the color, diff. size/pickup arrangements?

I rounded and shortened the sharp points, and blended the swoop at the pocket's top, that's the only thing I didn't like about mine, and it was just a few minutes spent.

Originally I wanted to go with three single coils, with a Tele bridge pickup. That's originally what I was thinking.

However, now I'm looking at a single EMG 58 in the parts box and thinking of using that alone.

I do like what you did with rounding the points off. I will probably try to do something similar.
