Just got this AXL body in the mail today. Its brand new and will be my long overdue next build. Here we go again.

my favorite bridge single - 5.00 chinese rails ! ( unless you got real ones ) - are you going to tap them all with some fancy wiring ? GO MDP ! !

No fancy wiring this time. Maybe down the road I might add some kind of splitting but for now it will just be on a standard 5 way switch. Got these rails from Dragonfire online. They are a matched set and DC resistance is 12.3k ohms on each. I have a nice Squier Standard neck with a satin finish to match the body but not sure yet. Its a rosewood fretboard and looks pretty good but the big 70's headstock doesn't really go with the body form very well. I have a vintage tinted high gloss neck with a maple fretboard on its way from GFS too and will see which one I like best.

Got my new GFS neck today and mounted up. Got the big block mim bridge mounted as well. Who else thinks this neck is better on this body?

Normally I say maple - but to me - the rosewood looks better - I love maple ( especially on my pancakes ) but most of my guitars are rosewood.

Good looking body. I think the Rosewood matches the body color better.

I think I know why the Rosewood looks better... because the body and pickguard are matte finished, it looks better with it (as it doesn't reflect much), matching "the look".
That maple is mighty tinted, and (IMO) too shiny for the rest of the guitar. It might look great on a candy poly black body, with a MOP guard... but like the others said...

@radiotech I agree with what you are saying about the gloss/matte combo. I am considering sanding the neck a bit with some like 1200 grit. The back of neck will get for sure because a bit sticky. Not sure about the rest though. Got some Hipshot locking tuners on the way for it too.
