I recently noticed that the pickguard on my squier bullet (my first guitar I got 4 years ago) has a crack in it. I think I might've accidentally bumped something heavy into it a while ago, and only just noticed the crack. It doesn't look like it'll get worse on it's own, and you can't see it unless you're trying to look for it, and I could probably quite easily replace the pickguard, or even glue it back properly.
The crack doesn't seem like a problem, but sadly it has tainted my enjoyment of the guitar. I know it's silly, but I imagined that I would have my first guitar in pretty good condition with me for the rest of my life, and I'd be able to look back like 20 years from now, and still have the guitar, in fair condition. But this crack feels like it has spoiled that. I see plenty of people's guitars that they've had for years, and they're still in good condition, maybe only some mild scratches on the finish. I know it's only a squier bullet, but it was my first guitar, so I guess I'm kind of sad that the original pickguard is damaged. Part of me knows my negative feelings are irrational, since it's a tiny crack, but still. I suppose I feel worse because pickguard breaks aren't very common. If it was a scratch in the finish, I wouldn't feel too bad, but since it's such an uncommon break, I guess I feel like I'm on my own. Has anyone felt like this about one of their guitars before? Do you know any ways to get over these negative feelings and help me enjoy the guitar as is?
edit: thanks for the reassuring replies! If the crack ever becomes more of a problem, I'll likely replace the pg, but keep the original, so I at least have the complete guitar.
