I just left one at Habitat...to be fair, it was a leftie Strat I'd purchased for a science experiment that was later replaced by a partscaster. I'm right-handed and didn't particularly care for the neck...otherwise it was okay.

Conversation with the kid unloading at Habitat...
Me, handing over the gig bag: It's a guitar.
Him, unzipping the gig bag and peering inside: hmmm
Me: It's a left-handed Strat.
Him: I'm left-handed.
Me: Let me show you what it needs (explained resetting the original nut and reconnecting the output wiring).
Him, zipping up the bag and taking it inside: I've got me a guitar.
Me: HNGD...enjoy.

I thought that a happy ending.

The only Glarry I’ve ever picked up had a very thick neck. You may or may not like that depending on personal preferences. I bought the one I grabbed for a friend who was learning, and I sanded some of the neck off thinner and replaced the cheap plastic nut with a graphtech.

Here is Josh Scott playing them and says there great!
they have others body styles too.
I bought a strat style Glarry a few years ago. Had a baseball bat thick neck, horrible pickups and tuners that barely worked. Yes- was very cheap- but not even worth what I paid.

I bought a glarry bass and returned it due to the bad quality. Body was so light, there was severe neck dive, Neck pocket too big for the neck's heel. Fret work crappy. Sanding marks under finish on both neck and body. Terrible quality tuners. Electronics worked OK, nothing to rave about.

If you use the search tool of the group and put in “Glarry”, you’ll find every comment ever made on them. If you check the box for “search titles only”, you’ll find every thread that was started about them… And you will find that the consensus is they are OK at best.

I bought one, see my avatar. $80 delivered, put about 30 into it, plays good , feels fine, sounds good. If your buying one you need to be able to do minor adjustments and repairs. Like a player, they have fret sprout, and several high frets were corrected with a mallet. replaced nut, tuners, output jack, and strings. kept pu's and electrics. play it once or twice a month. been a few years and no other problems.

If the guitars are junk, or OK at best...is it really a deal?

Not really sure they're junk. I had a GLarry P-bass for $65 shipped and it was pretty decent. Well worth $65.

I'm not sure about these guys though, but hard to beat that price if it's decent quality.

Perfect summation. These are horrible for a beginner's first guitar which are probably those most likely to purchase one. You are basically getting a pile of CNC cut parts that are assembled into a somewhat playable guitar. The ceramic pickups are microphonic poo, but the neck is very likeable if you have big hands and like a handful. They do a pretty nice job on the body finishes also. The tuners and hardware are lower end, but perfectly usable, and the plastic nut is kinda garbagy. It's the sorta thing that if a buddy told you they had a hundred dollars for a guitar and wanted to start learning, you could get one of these up and running right for him or her with just a little work.
