Realised I hadn't gotten an updated photo of my strat family. My Charvel Style Musikraft build is currently disassembled, awaiting sanding and refinishing.

Top left is my heavily modified Squier Deluxe Stratocaster, with KGC big brass block, Hantug Ti saddles, Seymour Duncan Hendrix Pickups, Graphtech Ratio tuners, bone nut and barrel style string trees.

Top right is my custom build, with a MIM Fender Stratocaster body, Warmoth Vintage-Modern neck with SS frets, custom Hantug brass and Ti bridge, modified DiMarzio Tone Zone, Gotoh staggered locking tuners and Graphtch nut.

Bottom middle is my 2008 COB Squier Bullet Strat, with Wilkinson 2-1/8" spaced bridge, Hantug brass saddles, DiMarzio Injector bridge and neck pickups, and IBZ/USA hum cancelling single, Graphtech nut and string trees and Jin Ho locking tuners.

Each of these guitars are awesome in their own right. I've gigged extensively with the white strat, it's my number one guitar, and the black has been used live plenty too.

Funnily enough, I have been considering a Tele. I've always hated them, couldn't stand the headstock, body shape, etc. But lately I've considered one, for a different tonal vibe. Or a Jim Root Squier Tele to get the best of both worlds.
I was like that about Teles for a long time. If it wasn't a Strat, I wouldn't even look at it. I ended dinkin' around with a Tele at my local music store. I ended up buying a nice Bullet Tele from @ToneChaser77 . I've grown to greatly appreciate them. I've got a Squier Standard Tele hanging on the wall right now :)

Yeah I got into the idea of potentially getting one after playing a friends American Fender in ash, it had some cool sounds. Couldn't deal with the headstock though, but I think I could get over that now.

Since I had torn down my red Musikraft Charvel style guitar, I figured that I should finally, after all these years install the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop pickup that I had made for my white Strat. the Tone Zone was in the white one, and it sounded great, so I just put it in the red build.

Anyway, one of my favourite pickups was the EVH frankenstrat pickup. I had it installed in this white strat way back when I first built it. the Frankenstrat was brilliant, but there were a few things I would have liked added.

At the time I was writing for the Seymour Duncan blog, and they offered to build me a Custom Shop pickup of my own choosing. I asked for something along the lines of the IM1 (which is the SD branded one, they made the Frankenstrat one initially), with a little more tightness and output. They absolutely nailed it!

Now it's finally in the home it should have always been in, and it sounds fantastic! Gave the guitar a much needed clean and restring too.

Figured a change is as good as a holiday. Decided to try out the Duncan Designed SC-101s that came in my Deluxe Stratocaster in my Bullet. Pulled out the Bullet’s stock pickguard and wired up the SC-101s in it. Swapped out the brass saddles for the stock Wilkinson bridge’s bent steel ones while I was at it.

These SC-101s are great pickups! An awesome, modern sounding single coil set that sound nice and woody and chunky. I’m digging them!

The bent steel saddles are a nice touch too. A little more zing over the brass ones I’ve had on this guitar.

A question about the Deluxe. I’ve got a line on a great 2013 with the Duncan singles in it. I know it's basswood (which I’m cool with), but wanted to know if the body size/dimensions are the same as MIM or American Fenders, and if it was a good modding platform. From youtube, it doesn’t sound like it needs a tonne of work to begin with.

do you have a vid of your’s to hear what your mods sound like? Thanks!

Well, as you can see from my list, I've modified the hell out of it now. ;) Other than the Squier two point having a different post spacing to american 2 points, and the sustain block options being a little smaller than the 6 point Squier ones, everything was super easy. Standard Fender sized body/neck, etc.

When I actually have some time I'll do a proper review of the Hendrix pickups on my blog, and likely shoot a video demo too.
