Spent a few very enjoyable hours this afternoon learning China Girl for possible inclusion in duo set. Great fun, SRV and Nile Rodgers into the bargain. He looks so happy, healthy and handsome in the video.
That's Lemmy, DB and Alan Rickman in the last couple of weeks. Give it a rest now, Mr Death ...

I was fortunate enough to see him in 1990 on The Sound and Vision tour. We were second row which equates to about seventh row when you consider that the first few rows are VIP. It was an amazing concert. The man was more than just a musician. He was part of that group that wanted his work to be more than music. I hate that he is gone. My kids are sad too but to them he was The Goblin King in The Labyrinth.

I stood 8 feet away from him at a show at the Aragon Ballroom in 1997, for the "Earthling" tour (small venues), he was VERY against playing his old songs (and said so during the show), none the less, it was a phenomenal experience. I saw him again in 2004 for "A reality tour", in which he embraced playing all his old music. We were in the first row of the Balcony, and with the larger band, we were happy we were further back. It was his final tour.
Both shows were more about performance than Spectacle, and did NOT dissapoint.
