Big box store pricing on CV.

Just had a look locally and the big box stores here like Futureshop and Best Buy have CV's regular price at $30 less than local music stores. When buying new, where do you usually buy from? I like to support local shops but $30 is a nice savings.

Sealed box, factory warranty etc. I'd go for the best price myself! Good luck.

I must admit that I like the brand new factory sealed packaging that the big internet stores ship their new guitars in. I know I'm not getting a floor model or a second, or whatever.


On the other hand it is nice to buy from a small local store where you may get a floor model, but it often may have some very special and remarkable wood grain patterns, flamed maple necks, etc. - and you "know" what you are getting and have had the chance to experience exactly what it sounds like, etc.


I, therefore, buy from a variety of sources, but mostly from online chains with exclusive products (Agile) and super good return policies.

I haven't bought a new guitar anywhere other than my local music store however, if I didn't already have a CV tele I would have purchased one from Best Buy last Boxing Day. At the time the CV's hadn't gone up at the music store so they were the same price but the Boxing Day sale was $100 off.

I do try to support my local music store however since most of my gear has been purchased used, it is mainly strings, cables, hangers, etc that I buy there.

I bought my CV50's strat at the local store in Warszaw, Poland and I thank myself for doing so. After a couple of months the tremoloarm got stuck in the system and broke when I tried to take it out. I just went back to the store and got it fixed since it still had the warranty. The next day I picked it up after service, as good as new. I don't think that would have been possible that fast if I had bought my guitar on line. And besides, if you run into some problems with your guitar you can allways go to the dealer and get the help you need and answers to your questions. As a customer you're allways welcome.
My advice to you all: support your local stores or they will die.

If it is brand new in the box, go with the best price and service.

At my age, I've bought, sold and traded more guitars than I can count. Not one of them were "new".....Pawn shops, Craig's list, word of mouth and even a couple of garage sales.....Having said that, I did buy a guitar from GC not too long ago, a used Epi LP bass.
