3D printing a pickguard

Just a vid that got me wondering if anybody has tried 3D printing a pickguard.

Would there be anything that might prevent it from being practical?

I'm rather curious but not tech-minded, no clue how 3D printing even works.

If the printer is big enough to print the whole thing it wouldn't be difficult, but extrusion type printers leave a patterned surface that you'd either have to be OK with, or you'd have use solvent and/or paint and/or sanding to make it smooth.

They use colored Filament that looks just like Weed Wacker string. Not cheap stuff and probably not for a Pickguard. There is a guy doing Tele and Strat Bodies with a Printer.

This body is made to fit with a fender neck that is a 25.5in scale. The martial used for the body is PLA, I can print in petg but this will cost more as it will literally weld the plastic to any glass surface when its molten.

Sounds like it's not practical. The idea of bodies is intriguing though...

I tried 3d printing a back cavity cover, but it wasn't the right dimensions
