I am curious about what people actually like in a pedalboard. I made mine to fit into a particular case that I already had, so it was already chosen by the case size. What size do you think is best? Please post why you feel your choice is best, below.

TJ, I bought a Gator pedalboard. it came with a power supply that fits under the board itself. the difference in making one and buying the Gator board was minimal for me. I knew someone at Best Buy that gave me a good deal. I only have 3 pedals on it right now. I'm gonna guess it's 24" X 16". oh, and it has it's own carrying case as well.

I still can't decide. I have the fairly large furman pedalboard with the hard shell case as a roller suitcase. It's big and heavy in fact it weighs more than my usual practice amp. I only have 6 pedals but I only use 2 or 3. I dont dont velcro them down because I have a lot of other petals I'm not sure which ones I want on the board. I have no idea what I wanna do with my peddle board or how big it should be.

I bought a HT5 tube amp in Sept and decided I needed some pedals and bought 6 and a wah. I was searching for a pedal board and found a pedal train Pro with the cloth bag for 115.00 (shipped), by all research this was a darn good price. When I got it, I had no idea the thing was that big. I suggest if you are going to buy online, get the measurements and tape the size of it off on the floor and arrange your pedals in it to see if its over kill , like mine is. Thinking about cutting it in half and making two smaller boards.
Dunno yet

The reason I posted this is that I personally have a difficult time finding the perfect commercial board. I have resorted to building my own. I wanted to see if anyone else has had the issue of not getting what they really want with boards on the market. I can't be the only guy who has a difficult time finding an off the shelf solution.

I like the Boss BCB60 boards for quite a few reasons... Im an early 80's Ibanez/Maxon 9 Series fanatic... And those pedals are the same exact size as the boss pedals... So they slide right into the BCB60 boards with no need for velcro or chain links/screws.... I also like to have a LOT of pedals for various tone options. But I dont like to have boards with 2 rows where I have to go over 1 row to reach the other pedals... I also like the boards to be somewhat small... So in the end ive gone the 2 board route... Single row... 26-7/16 inches by 14-5/8 inches...

Dust... They hadnt been cleaned in quite the while when I took this pic...

I have met and seen a lot of people who really dig single row boards. John Frischante from the RHCP has a super long single row board. I almost can believe it belongs to a pro. It looks like he put it together in his garage. He moves around so much that I am sure the width is not a problem, but I do understand the logic behind one row.

I saw one of those pedalboards with a speaker in it tonight at Guitar Center. It is called FootNote. It was made out of molded hard plastic and had a squarish shape with a speaker in the top left corner of the board. I think it was an 8 or 10". That board would be good for at home practice or in a hotel room. No amp to haul around.
