It's the Slash LP Standard in gorgeous Anaconda Burst, but it's a whopping $949! For that price I would expect it to have Gibson Burstbuckers, but no, it's got the Epi Probuckers only. Of course, the Gibson version is $2999.

It's a little more expensive that most Epi signature models, but not by much. That Slash logo on the back of the headstock must be expensive.

Have you played the Probuckers "only" ?
My Ace Frehley LP was MSRP $1099, I got it for $600.

It's a beautiful instrument. And I'd be surprised if its quality was less than a buyer would hope for at that price.
Still... Is it worth paying so much for an instrument just because it bears another's name?

In any case this is one more example of the fast changing market we are seeing with Epiphone. And, I'd expect more and more, Squier, too.
Everything today works against the older model. That of medium level guitars for bottom pricing. There are just too many things that the manufacturers cannot control. Material costs. Shipping costs. Etc. So selling one premium instrument becomes a better bet than investing in making, and hoping to profitably sell, many low markup models.
American instruments costs are exploding too. It is all just part of the changing landscape.

the probuckers are great - but I don't get why they dont have the Duncan Slash pickups in the Slash signature axe!

I worked for over a decade at a Gibson/Epi dealer, and so I've played a ton of Epi's with Probuckers, and a ton of Gibsons with Burstbuckers, and the Burstbuckers are a lot better sounding to me.Have you played the Probuckers "only" ?

Those are USA Epis, so you can't count those, or the Japanese made Elitist models either.
I'm not an expert, but I imagine that Gibson/Epi wants to keep the price under $1,000 and not share revenue with anyone.

Especially since Slash seem to be getting about $300, judging by what this costs vs. a standard Epi LP, lol
