Not owning a cellphone, or "hand held god" as I call them, why do I see so many posts and Emails that conclude with "sent from my IPhone, or Samsung, or whatever other device". Is this something that the device automatically adds to the message, or are people just so enamored of their product choice that they must proclaim it whenever possible? In either case, I find it quite odd, and quite annoying. Anyone in the know, please explain this phenomenon to me.
Yeah man, the devices of many cell carriers are set to automatically append that to the end of every message in the name of free advertising. Many people don't bother to change it.
Thanks Eddie and r3 for answering my question so promptly. I assumed that was the case, but I just wanted verification. BTW Eddie, I like your new avatar with your daughter with her red Strat. And, I loved your post about your former student's talent, and your dedication to the students in the Bronx. You're a good person. People like you are the true American Heroes. Doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, police, fire, EMTs, our military, and all the others who work tirelessly every day ( like food service and retail workers, as well as many others), to provide the services that we all take for granted are our true heroes/heroines, much more so than any actors, musicians, or athletes.
Please read my previous post with kudos to you. I should have posted it so you got a notification, but I didn't realize until it was too late, so I'm doing it this way instead.
That can be turned off. IMO it’s inconsiderate to leave it turned on. At all times it’s just extraneous info of no value. On lists it’s rude.
Evidently my phone doesn't add that. Unless others can see it and I can't. Never had to turn anything off.
That's an issue for me. I really don't need to see a signature that's a screen-consuming picture that's bigger than the post it's associated with: every single post.
It's commonly used in business because it shows that you weren't in the office at the time or email... Making it more forgiveable if you don't have relevant information attached etc. Generally I see this and think, he/she is out and about and not sitting at their desk on their computer.
I'm just thrilled to meet another person who doesn't own a mobile phone! Never owned one, don't have any idea how to use one!
You put it in your pocket. That's it. If it rings, take it out, look at it, and put it back in your pocket once it has stopped ringing.
