Thanks, BlueSquirrel. I’m more patient now that I’m old. I like 60’s rock, British R&B, Surf, Motown, Jazz, and more.
@SoCalJim Cool music choices! On a side note, you're inspiring me to go back to the One minute chord changes. Thanks to you!
Thanks @duzie! What are you up to yourself? Still very busy? Can't wait for the anti-covid vaccine and going back to normal life!
My latest obsession is working on the solo from Rainbow in the Dark by Dio Far above my skill level lol. I’ve worked throughout this whole debacle so far .
Hey. I'm 54. Been playing guitar off and on since I was 15. IN school, everyone thought I was great. Then I quit for years. Then picked it up again around 2007. Ended up leading a blues band from the drum throne. But used guitar to arrange songs. Knew I wasn't as good as I thought then. Then put it up again a few years ago, 2013? 14? Got back at it recently. Decided that Truefire looked like a good system. With all acess ($99/yr special holiday pricing?), I can skip around, but been working on David Hamburger's fingerstyle blues picking lately. No vids or anything, just having a good time and playing my guitars again. Same as many of you. Wife says a hard NO to new drums and turning the family room into a reheasal space. Go figure. And I have also worked all but one week of the pandemic. I am just a little envious of folks who get to work from home. A little. I am also thankful to have been able to work. You guys keep learning and playing and having fun.
Last year of 2020 I have picked up the guitar more often, some licks here, various tunes. This is the squier talk giveaway guitar I won last year. Thanks to Doug @dbrian66 and some other forum members whom donated the parts. Excuse my raw appearance, i basically just rolled out of bed when I did this video.
@Angry Possum Wow! I did not expect a Van Halen tribute! Man, you're on fire, lol! Hats off to you! By the way, this guitar is gorgeous!
Did anyone ever tell your voice sounds a little like Leslie West? (I can't say your playing is totally different either.)
RIP Leslie, he had such great harmonical hands... Must be my New York Accent. Hahaha. Thanks for those comments guys.
Dang, sorry... Heaven and Hell is actually one of my top 5 records ever. I had a dungaree jacket painted with that album cover on the back. $40 in the 80s. I'd get another one if anyone still does them.
[QUOTE="Must be my New York Accent. Hahaha. Thanks for those comments guys.[/QUOTE] That's a good part of it.
I just found this nice site to learn most of the guitar scales. Pentatonic etc. https://www.guitarcommand.com/guitar-scales/
Great find, thanks for posting it! I’m trying to watch your video but it doesn’t want. To play for me. Gonna keep trying. EDIT: Just watched it, that was great!
As an old-guy beginner, I seem to be struggling with forming accurate chords. On many occasions, one of my fingers will end up deadening a string (I'm typically killing the high-E). I think my problem is not getting my top two knuckles on each finger bent enough. I know, old-guy issues. I really made an effort to bend them more, and my mistakes are down. Unfortunately, that's hard to keep doing especially when I'm moving between chords. So, now that I'm aware of this issue, I guess I need to look into some finger exercises that might rejuvenate my geezer digits. Wish me luck!
