Anything you buy new for $200 is only worth $120 max once it leaves the store.....i wouldn't count on anything holding value @porkpie

The Firefly LP's hold their values and often sell for a premium because of the scarcity.

I can't get that link to work either, it does nothing in my browser.....it's a long link with Squier-Talk and other things in the header....

Seems like we can't do direct links to monoprice, I just tried myself, won't work....

For reasons previously mentioned I would definitely go used to get a better guitar for the price range. Watch Guitar Center Used and you can sometimes find some great Squiers and Epiphones for a good deal.

The one I bought and sold based on doubling my money was the Blue one. I am seriously considering buying this brown one now... Thanks for the GAS.....

I was commenting with a guitar that was great playing and an alternative to your choice that I actually had experience with. You asked for recommendations.

Obviously, like others have said, you will get more value buying used, but I totally understand the feeling of having some extra money in my pocket and just wanting to buy something right now! Not searching for the best deal! LOL

So that said, if you are buying new, the Ibanez you posted is a great guitar for the money. Ibanez’s QC is pretty good, even at that price point. And if something is not right, they will stand behind their product. Some of the other brands mentioned like Monoprice and Firefly are more of a crap shoot when it comes to QC. But if you get a good one, it’s normally money well spent.

If it was me, I would buy the Ibanez!
