So I bought this guitar about a month ago from guitar centre and I don't know if I really want to keep it or not I'm not crazy about the headstock or the distressed vintage attempt but the body feels good the neck plays great but I spent about $200 on it and I can easily get my money back from guitar centre if I just take it back there but I only have a few more days before I'm at the 45 day deal. I installed the diamond bucker in it and it sounds good but the original pick up wasn't bad either I not really crazy about the colour or the finish of the guitar I would prefer to completely sand it down and make it nice and smooth maybe clear coat it to expose the wood grain And see if a Squire knack would fit on it
It actually plays really nice the way it is I just don't like it As far as looks go
What would you do to it? Or would you just take it back and get your $200 back? I don't think you can buy this one anymore the 1 they sell now doesn't have a hard tailed bridge it has like a Fender style trem. 20210613_142155.jpg 20210613_142201.jpg 20210613_142210.jpg 20210613_142220.jpg

I don't think it's worth modding, personally. I say return it.

$200 for a guitar that plays and sounds great is a bargain in my book. I’d keep it and play the heck out of it!

It's a style. Question is , is it your style?

It would totally change the look if you sand that black off the headstock and expose the wood.
Then give it a couple coats of vintage looking amber color sealer .

I definitely dont like the ruff wood finish. They relic these so they dont actually finish the wood like normal. I like a smooth sanded body.
The ash body is nice otherwise. The weight is awesome. It feels good.
I want a ash body telecaster and strat. This is as close as i could get or afford.
I put the stock slick old shool 9.2k pup back in and really it still screams like when the dimebucker was in there.
My biggest concern is how much stuff i have and $. Ive got a ton of guitars and amps. Sometimes less is more 20210613_161744.jpg 20210613_161749.jpg

Have spent alot of money just driving to Phoenix all the time. Probably around 700-1k a month in gas.
    Tahoe gets 14mpg.
Im not working and biden wont give me no money $ the irs is holding my return(audit?) So im thinking about this guitar mostly because i have a cheap crate g412sl slant cab that has no bass response and a bugera 1990 i dont really need that should go back. So i figured i probably dont need this guitar either and i could maximize my returns in on trip wasting $60 in fuel on a 3 hr trip.
Besides i finally found a decent 7 string jackson yesterday for $100 and a few days prior a 2019 affinity hss strat.
Probably cheaper to sit here and do nothing about it all. I guess i justike brand name stuff lol and im more comfortable with a cheap junky bullet strat than a slick dick goofy logo slant back head stock. Even though really its far superior quality.
Im just a picky a hole

You can stain if you want it darker ,but amber poly has a very light yellowy -brown color already. The more coats the deeper the color ;)

Adding stain to poly can sometimes cause it to not cure out and set properly ,leaving it feeling funny.
Like some of the high gloss necks on cheaper guitars .
