Hi all. Got a Harley Benton and want to upgrade the humbuckers any suggestions??
Well... what kind of sound are you looking for? What are the stock pickups not doing for you?
I like the Epiphone Probuckers in my LP guitars.
I agree with pgsdixon, it depends on what do you play and what sound you're after.
Stock pups are falling to bits. I have strats never had humbuckers before the sound is all new to me. Thanks
What music do you listen and play to?
Would like a blues kind of sound / Gary Moore /Clapton. only replacing due to corrosion. Don't see the point putting stock ones back in.
what kind of budget do you have? I have yet to meet a Seymour Duncan HB that I didn't like ... but they are pricey!
Guitar Madness makes nice quality HBs at great prices - one of these sets would probably be a nice fit (don't know if they ship to Scotland tho):
I'd think pickups with approximately PAF specs would do nicely for the older sound you described. Guitar Madness has two PAF style pickups with alnico magnets, the '57 Specials and the '59ers. They're similar, and it just depends on which alnico you want. Not that is makes a very big difference. I wouldn't spend more for a brand name.
Thanks for the advice. Yes the shipping might be a problem.
Thanks for that
Does Guitar Fetish ship to Scotland? I used to have a set of their Fat Pats. Really nice pickups.
I’ve got a similar project and it’s leaning towards SD 59 neck and SD distortion in the bridge. Whichever direction you go it’ll be fun!
Not a clue but the shipping will be a joke. Shipping is very expensive then clearance charges if any it will probably be close to the price of the humbuckers. Seen a few 57s and 59s in the uk??
Thanks for the advice.
Hi I have seen a few 57 and 59s in the UK. I know one is alnico v. No difference in price not sure which ones to go for as not used humbuckers in any guitars??
Try a set of Fleor Humbuckers,
Take about 3 weeks to arrive.
Some sound demos here,
There's several videos on YT of them as well,
Have you seen them before or heard them.
