Wow now that might get interesting. I wasnt sure at first. I tested it into the guys 1960 vintage Marshall 412 and i was using my muddy studio and then telecaster that i brought to trade. But at home it sounds really good into my 80s crate 412 cab with the English celestion g12-50 or whatever they are using my Ibanez rg470mhz

The body of the guitar didn't seem to resonant correctly. Its always sounded weird. I bought it used from guitar center like 2016. The thing felt nice but always sounded off and kinda muddy. Ive had a few epiphone guitars that sounded great but not that one. Had duncan pickups and tried different heights and string brands.. new good.

It looks pretty. Ive wanted to try one of theirs. They have these ltd ones that dont cost alot and play nicely.

I forgot to mention the guy had a beat up epiphone sg bass he sold me for $20
Story is it got stepped on and busted the plug off in body so kid parted it and gave it to this guy.
I just need tuners and a saddle. I also bought a Ibanez gio sr200b bass for $119 at sam ash music and they threw in a free set of d addario strings $22. It has flat wound strings currently.
So tomorrow I shall see if i can buy cheap parts locally.
Im definitely liking this evh lbx ii. Im using the tele in drop c. Sounds killer

Heres the damage. They tried to put a different jack in there but its all wrong. So all they got was humm. And condemned the poor guitar 20210528_023107.jpg 20210528_010417.jpg 20210528_010545.jpg

Glad you’re enjoying it! Be interested to hear your opinions on the differences between the 6505+ and the 5153!

You see my nuttjob? I put a shoulder nutt in the saddle so i could put a string on the bass to keep tension on the neck since its not had strings in a while. I live at 5200 ft elevation and Phoenix is like 300. So guitars can get funny. The removed the saddles

They certainly sound similar but different. I so far havent been able to crank it up since its late here. But tomorrow ill compare both into the same cab. I think so far maybe the evh sounds better but im comparing it going into a cab against the 6505+ 12 speaker. Those peavey speakers are not very good. But the 6505 is at least sealed back. The Vypyr is semi closed back and will sound good rigged up to a 8 ohm cab. Unfortunately my good cab is 16 20210528_031249.jpg

I had an over-abundance of amplifiers a few years back (some were bought intending to flip), it didn’t come down to what type of music I was playing for which amp, it came down to which one was the one I played the most... which was the one that was the most diverse. YMMV

Best of luck in your decision.

That makes sense. I kinda buy stuff if its a good deal and sell it later unless its amazing.
The peavey vt classic was a big mistake at $250. Sold state pre with two 6l6 power tubes. On its own its sound terrible. The 2 12" scorpion speakers are nice but i need 2 more and i can put them in the valveking cab. The solid-state peavey Supreme head was just part of the deal on a cab. The valveking ii head is ok but needs more drive.
The bugera 1990 actually sounds awesome but the drive is just a bit less than what i need. It really sounds like a jcm900.
The peavey Vypyr vip3 is my practice amp and bass amp. Ive got some crates but the Vypyr is way better for bass.
    Katana is decent
I like it and have been using different pedal settings in the software.
The new evh 5153lbx ii is pretty awesome. Its right there with my 6505+ combo. Im really glad i traded those 2 guitars for it.
So really i got 3 peaveys that need to go. But so far my prices are too high i guess. The Supreme is probably the best one. Its made in usa and some crazy guys use them for death metal i guess.

8ohm into a 16ohm is a safe mismatch isn’t it? Can someone savvier confirm?

Probably but i prefer not to do that with solid state stuff.
I actually have a Chinese smaller size 412 crate cab thats 8 ohm. I havent tried it yet with the vip3

Not sure about the Marshals but Fenders you can unplug the Reverb. My Fender 100 watt pure tube is Bright, open and LOUD with the Reverb on low.

What are your intentions with the amp you keep ? Are you going to live perform or just bedroom/garage playing. Makes a huge difference.

There’s a buffer circuit that amps with reverb have but I don’t know if it’s in the main wiring or in the reverb unit itself. It compresses and takes away the wide open character that all old non reverb amps possess.

That pre-reverb sound dominated much in the first decade of popular music starting in the 1950s and part of why this era sounds so real and immediate and less processed.
