What's going on with this? Prices for used Squiers are insane. Granted, these are asking prices ... but they gotta come from some place ...

    Black SE $200

    White SE $250

    Standard $250

    Tabacco Affinity $260

    Red Bullet Tele $175

    Red HSS Squire Pack $300

    Creme $195

    MIJ E-series $995

If these are the going rates for Squiers, I'm selling mine for a boatload.

Yeah, I have noticed prices are getting higher and higher. That’s good for me I think. It stops me from buying so much. And when I do find a deal like yesterday, it’s pretty easy to make money on the flip. I sold my last Standard for $200. There is no way I would ever spend that much on a Standard! LOL

Wishful thinking IMO. I'm supposed to be trading my Marshall G50R CD amp that cost me $40 for a White SE tomorrow, my first ever White Whale.

Maybe I'll post a guitar at $250 and see what happens.

    Let us know what happens.

IMHO, it's all part of the COVID thing. I'm not selling/buying any gear because I don't feel comfortable meeting Mr. X somewhere public nor inviting them to my abode. If there are many more like me, that mean's less gear on the market. The law of supply and demand says that shortage of gear is going to make the prices go up. I don't see nearly as much gear that I've historically been interested in on FB, CL or OU either.

Keep what ya got and play them then pick out the best and have the others on standby to sell when the time is right. You should profit from them when it all breaks loose.

I’d think they’re trying to catch up so to speak, asking is a bit much

If you pay it, they will take it. The great Affinity body/VC '50s neck I purchased last week had an ask of $299. I paid $172. Here's how I did it.............
"Matt. This is not a low-ball offer (although you will think that initially). A new Squier Affinity is 229. A used Squier is worth about 75% of new ($171.75). That's the offer. I can pay immediately if you can ship the same. Steve"
    I did and he did.

Yeah I’ve noticed it. When I sold my Epiphone Les Paul Standard in Gold about a month ago, I was suprised because I got more than the market value and the going rate, I got more than I expected for it.

I think its because of the situation with the virus and lockdown in places, so everyone are staying home and paying more to have things to play with (whether it be video games, musical instruments, you name it the price of this type of stuff has gone up).

I think this is exactly the reason. So many people are picking up new hobbies because they have more time to kill. I also agree with @TimTheViking in that there are less people selling right now.
More buyers + less guitars = higher prices!

    It is wishful thinking...

I’ve got a Standard Lefty standard P-Bass in black/charcoal sparkle in perfect shape, figuring it will sell for $150... not a single inquiry after three days... and it’s Listed at less than the majority of FB/CL/Reverb listings for righty’s... this is the third time I’ve listed it, not a single bite
    go figure.

That’s just because it’s a lefty. Not too many customers at all for those. That’s why small companies like Firefly don’t even offer a left handed version of their guitars. Not enough buyers and they worry they will be stuck with unsold stock.

If they have a RW FB it might be the new normal. Some people feel RW is superior and it's not ever coming back on "cheap" guitars. How PF FBs stand the test of time will be the final determining factor, of course. A NOS J5 Tele with RW FB goes for a pretty penny and I suspect the RW has as much to do with the price as the scarcity.

My "cheap", aka "affordable", guitar buying days are probably over as a result of the RW FB debacle. I have everything I need anyway. My gits with non-maple FB are all RW, and I'm just not interested in playing or owning anything with PF. I admit it's not rational but people with artistic inclinations or aspirations are not rational beings.

I've got my own theory around SE prices as I'm sure most people know they do provide one of the best mod platforms as the build is excellent. I'm pretty sure that Fender made a mistake when they introduced the Player Packs with the SE's as the guitar element along with amps, bags and other goodies not realising that the guitar was a much higher quality than some of the more expensive units. They withdrew the Player Packs after a few years and didn't offer the SE's again so now they are much sort after as after-market upgrades which I have been doing for a while now.
Some of my upgrades with P90's as flavour of the month and selling like hotcakes and some waiting there turn for the mod transformation! P90a Trio2.jpg SE Trio.jpg SQSEP90Waiting.jpg SQP90TortPu.jpg SQSEP90GrnPu.jpg

I recently sold a Standard Blonde Tele with upgraded locking tuners and case for $350.00 through my Local Guitar Dealer on consignment. I was shocked. Even with the case, I was thinking he would have to come down to at the most $300.00. Just goes to show, there is a buyer for must any guitar.
