Ok, i really did plan on keeping both of these guitars. I even ordered some parts for the Thinline last night. Anyway, a guy i know offered me a great condition Epiphone ES-335 PRO Limited Edition, Custom Shop for that Thinline. He says the 335 is too big for him. He is kind of a smallish dude, he should of ate his Wheaties i guess... So this weekend i basically ended up with 2 very nice 335's for $150 each. I spent $300. And i am giving him the $30 in parts i ordered when they come in. I think i scored big this weekend.
The Epi definitely has better pickups. And the neck is thinner on the Epi. I really only need one 335. So i am going to keep the Epi, and try to trade the other one for something i think is cool at the moment.
I do not know what the Mickey Mouse thing is... But at least im good at something. I must be a natural? I figured it out... The silhouette of a 335 resembles Micky.
Nice score. The unbadged headstock and quirky nature of the thinline make me wonder if they’re AliExpress products, I’ve heard mostly good things about those guitars.
The guy i got the Thinline from has more of them. All new, all unbranded. But they are nice high quality bad ass little guitars that he will sell to me for 120 bucks. I really did like that strat. But when i was offered this Epiphone for it. I jumped right on that. Hell Yeah!
And i am going to get another thinline strat for $120. Some people have been paying 180 for them. All from the same guy. I told him what i did with the first one, he said i have more. I will let you have another one for $120. Why the hell not! They are easily worth 300. Thats the range they would be in if sold at gc.
Agreed. Bought my Grote ES335 copy for $149- no tax, free shipping off their website. Loving it. All about what you like...
Not that you have them both you can really see any differences between the two ? I would agree - this was a great score !
I prefer epiphone over Grote or Firefly. Especially when i can get Custom Shop Pro for basically $150.
Can you elaborate by what you mean when you say "Custom Shop Pro" because based on the context it sounds like you are speaking of Epiphone, but there is no Epi CS, and it would definitely be the exception, not the rule, to find any of the Pro Epiphone guitars for $150
I can elaborate on that. Because the epiphone has custom shop stamped on the headstock. And the truss cover says ES-335 pro. So it would be quite easy for even a novice to identify the guitar. And if you read the whole thread you will know how i got the epi for badically 120 bucks and 30 bucks in parts.
I'm not sure that the math checks out until you part with the un-branded semi-hollow. Also, you said, "when I can get get..." you already got it. That is not a deal that you or anyone is likely able to duplicate. That's why @techowiz and I were confused. If time goes on and no one wants to trade, or buy the generic guitar from you then the way I would look at it is that you have a guitar worth zero, and 330 invested in the Epiphone. If you sell the copycat for 100, then you would have 230 invested in the Epiphone, same if you trade it for $100 amp/pedal/parts/etc. That's why I'm saying you don't really know how much you got the Epiphone for just yet, if that makes sense. Still a good trade in my eyes, unless the epi is a refurb. Around here you would be lucky to get $100 for that strat like object, so from that perspective, 130 for a 335 Pro is pretty nice. Still not a deal that others can duplicate, and certainly not the norm. I have a 7 string Stagemaster that was effectively free after trading/flipping things, but I wouldn't post about how I prefer to get a 7 string Squier for free instead of X. I missed your post earlier and had to go back. Oops
