I think taking this extended time out has done me a world of good. I really have not got to fish much but just getting away from my grind has been great. I just was getting to be under a lot of self inflicted stress that has subsided measurably.
Thank God for that, I was nearing stroke level, or so it seemed. Just doing nothing and helping my elderly brother has brought me a lot of peace of mind and spirit. I don't feel like I am chasing anything or have too many worries.
Big thing now is to get a new A/C for the shop. It is an oven in there since mine took a dump.

Agreed. Stress is no joke. That's my biggest issue also. I get bad anxiety over nothing.

  12. Great to hear you are doing well Mark. Create your own piece of mind for better health. Diet and caution surrounding alcohol etc goes along way.

Yes! Most encouraging o see this later post, Mark!

When we are young being "driven" is, I think, natural. Nature's way of us moving us ahead in life. But as we get older such can simply be a habitual way of life. Endless driving to do more, be more -- that instead of rejoicing and feeling satisfaction for where we have, via efforts and blessing from above, gotten ourselves.

I'm fighting that tendency. Not just here, in music, but in everything. Letting the world go mad if it so wishes -- or, more accurately, if younger people are willing to be led along with it. For me there is peace. Earned with both hard work and faith. To be shared with those who themselves cherish what I cherish. Art, intelligence, goodness and kindness. And NO churlish "isms"!!! :D

Awesome Mark, you can also try listening to peaceful music on youtube before you go to sleep, it clears the mind. You wake up re-charged.

Good for you Mark. Sometimes just a day off does the trick.
Due to the high price and limited availability of building materials, I had some job cancellations and postponements. So I've found myself with a few "days off".
I spent Sat repairing my daughter's house, and Sun I volunteered to help the PTA build an activities deck at the local elementary school. My kids are grown, so I didn't know any of the parents. When I showed up, they were passing a blue print around, trying to figure things out. We're in the hurricane district so it was loaded with notes regarding high wind codes. Someone said, well this guy has a pencil over his ear, maybe he know how to build it. No pros in the group, but some were handy, had tool, and could take directions. We had a few laughs, no one got hurt, and at the end of the day, we were done, and the 1st activity will be an outdoor graduation for the kids. thumbnail.jpg thumbnail.jpg1.jpg
