I have a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Telecaster Thinline.. I love it!! I play it about 6-8 hrs a week... Because of fret wear/height,, I feel I will need a neck replacement in the near future... I just ordered a new Squier Classic Vibe 60's Telecaster Neck with Tuners for $159..... Should it be a direct replacement?? Thanks to all in advance.

Yes, it should fit just fine. W any neck there is always a chance you may have to fill the hole and redrill - but usually they line up just fine

probably have mated 20-25 various necks w various bodies - have not once had to fill and redrill

I did my first fill and re-drill. After clamping the neck and body in place, and re-drilling ... I found I was off by a tiny hair. Argh !!! Not the end of the world ... but I need to be more careful of any slippage during clamping. It was good practice for me to overcome my drillaphobia.

CV60.jpg Thanks... It may be a few months before I need to swap it,,, but I think the hardest part is done.. That is I found an identical neck for a good price..

It can't be identical, 'cause if you ordered a CV 60s one, then it has an IL board, not maple.

It's not - one is a pale hardly tinted China Grand Reward 2011-2018 neck.....

The one he ordered is brand new production, tinted neck with different size frets and Indonesian made....

Actually, you don't need a neck replacement. You only need to re-fret the effected frets.

My plan is to refret the neck at my leisure after it is changed out.. Then I'll have a "full up neck with tuners ready to roll..

The reason I asked is because I have never changed out a neck before..... I was curious about "standard specifications" within a model series... So,,, if I got supposedly an identical neck,, with the holes drilled for neck to body joint,,,,,,,,, could I expect it to be a easy changeout?

It should be fine. People even put Fender necks on Squier bodies all the time and everything lines up perfectly.

When you're ready, give some thought to stainless steel.

Have you ever had issues with neck height or neck angle ?

Yes, I had a neck pocket that was cut too deep, but I was able to correct it w/ a shim
