    Here I go again!

I was working from home yesterday as I have been for the last 3 months, and decided to open a window to check out this year's virtual Gear Fest. It was actually a good distraction from far too many excel spreadsheet updates! I saw a banner pop up to check in with my Sales Engineer for special deals. So, why not?

Had a great conversation catching up with Ryan Clapper, and eventually got around to asking what he could do on a few models on my GAS list. Long story short, I got 20% off this 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Modern which is on the way.

It arrived this past Wednesday, and I have been enjoying it since. The only adjustment I made was to lower the bridge a few turns to achieve the action I like. I also removed the strings, oiled the fretboard and put new GHS Boomer Gilmour signature (10-48) strings back on it.

IMHO, Epiphone put out a model that requires no upgrades. The locking Grover tuners, NuBone nut, Probucker pickups, wiring and pots are all first class. Does it play as well as my Gibson LP? No...but at 1/3 the cost it is amazingly close :)

That's a truly good looking guitar, @Treynor. What difference(s) do you find compared to your Gibson?

The main difference is the feel of the neck. I prefer the Gibson, but it is subtle. Maybe the Rosewood fretboard vs Ebony...or maybe nitro back of neck vs poly gloss. Subtle differences, but there for me. Both play easy and fast.

Burstbuckers vs Probuckers. Both sound REALLY good clean and with dirt. But the BB's seem slightly more dimensional...maybe a little more air around each note.
