I almost forgot too mention what kind of pickups I've installed:

Thanks, I even change out the saddles to a hybrid, no sharp edges, and has a string grove. Hard to notice the difference unless you look for them, I am sure no one noticed the difference on my post above.

  11. Hey ... I did, and wondered … til now. Looks good. Sometimes those stock VM 70's saddles where "junk" for a lack of a better word.
Yours however don't look too bad at all. I had one set that was absolute garbage.

    Cheers, Barrie.

Very sweet. I've had my VM less than two months and haven't made any mods.
Can you share how much all that hot-rodding set you back?

Around $600.00 plus the the cost of the Squier, Not to sure if you noticed but you cannot get the black VM 70's right now, not even on Fenders website.

Yes, the screw holes on the original saddles have always been "junk". With this new hybrid it's solid metal so the screws have more to grip.

Have install them on ALL my Squier "keepers"

This is a good pic of them on my red Squier.

I came in to start A thread for advice on VM Strat saddle options, saw this thread, and low and behold you were discussing them. I recently purchased a used VM Strat. I got home and dusted it off and I had to hold it up to the light to find any play scratches on the pick guard. The guy obviously played it once with Rocksmith (which came with it) and put it back in the bag for 3 years. I'd prefer to leave this one just the way it was born, but after attempting a set up on it I have to agree with Texinga, the original saddles are junk, the stock saddles on my SE 100 and Standard are far superior. They hadn't been touched since the factory, but when turned, the hex screws walk around on the bridge, to the point they seem the threads are barely holding. Like you said, little metal to hold on, so they just wobble around making it impossible to get any precision adjustment. Also, the saddles lean to the South, and because there is no groove and the instability of the screws it increases the problem. I managed to get some somewhat straight but the hex screws have to be just right, hence out of adjustment. I was down at GC the other day to get strings and out of curiosity I spied on some Fender HSS Strats with the same saddles and more than not they had the same issues brand new on the wall.
So, after more than you probably wanted or needed to know, here's my question. Where can I find those saddles? Cost? And, just to clarify, you installed/replaced those onto the original stock vintage synch tremolo bridge? Thanks! Now I can go back to perv on your mod jobo_O
