Just sitting on the deck, enjoying a quiet evening with my dog. I assume a lot of us have a wonderful canine companion, so let’s see them!

Here is one of mine. Goose. A rescued Rottweiller from Baltimore. Just a lovable boy who has no idea how big he is!

My little buddy is getting pretty old, almost completely deaf and her eyesight is fading fast. She still plays for about 1/2 hour in the morning and then sleeps all day.

Our 17# guard dog Leo! He's now about 14, also losing his hearing and eyesight. He's endured 3 surgeries on his right rear knee, only to also have the left one fail, but he keeps going on it with the scar tissue holding it together. His walking has actually improved since the picture in the carriage, since we found out he had a thyroid deficiency, the medication for which has improved his mobility a lot. Dementia is creeping in, and we frequently have to hand feed him. But he is happy every day, and he gives us great joy and much love. My wife and I no longer can travel together so that one of us is always home with him, and also with our senior kitty Diva. They are family, and we will care for them as long as we can.

He's 15 years old; this is the primary method of spending what time is left.

I have a question for all my fellow forum dog owners.. Now please don't think I'm being silly.. Its a legit albeit whimsical pondering - do any of your beloved pets come up and listen to your guitar playing - eg you're on the porch or deck.. Has that happened to anyone?

Yes. My dog almost always hangs out when I play guitar. His name is Zev. He is a 3 year old Kelpie rescue. IMG_20210322_182944045.jpg

Nope, my dogs, like most people, have no interest in hearing me play guitar! LOL

    This is Cato (k-toe)
I got him when he was 30 days old.
He went everywhere with me, work included .
A great dog who was loved by many.
He changed a lot of minds about Rottweilers.
He was a never ending source of love, and humor.
He is missed each and every day.
He made me a better person.
    I am less without him

I saw it happen once my friend was messing around with a uke and his dog (a little terrier) came and sat in front of him watching him play.. It was unbelievable.. Thanks for your replies.

That is true about most Rotties. People are scared to death of them until they actually meet one. They are just gentle, loving, giants. Goose is my 4th Rottweiller I’ve had in the last 25 years. All 4 of them have helped change the general public’s view of the breed.

My one dog used to howl and sing along when he was a puppy. Thinking back on it, pretty sure he was begging me to stop haha. The other dog is mostly deaf, so he sticks around when I play if he’s comfortable enough.

Absolutely, Minnie sits up on the wife's chair and doesn't take her eyes off me when I play.
