edit - added some picks with the pickguard laying on top of the two options. One advantage of the CAR is that it’ll be closer to the BHM red special.

Black on black is too boring IMO, unless it's black pearl. What do the six switches do?

What about Candy Apple red, or are you thinking something else? My J-bass in Black Pearl on black body.

Don't ask me, I'm embroiled in a fanatical fight with myself on a black Strat and a tort guard, how can I help you whilst I am fighting with my sanity?

However, I do have a black Strat with black guard and I love it.
For me red guitars should have white guards . White , I tell you, not any shades of mint, lime, avocado, lemon , kiwi fruit , grape or any other substance that may have passed it's sell by date.

Would you look good on either
You can always change pickguards whenever you change strings

Put it on and see if you like it, if you kinda dig it but you're still unsure, throw some strings in and rock it until the next string change. If by then you're still not sure about the looks, then it's time to take it out, no harm done.

It's your own guitar, the reason why we make customised projects is so that we can get an instrument built to your own preferences. Unless you plan on putting it for sale around here right after, our opinions are worth just as much as you want them to. ;)

I voted black, but honestly I think it would look sweet on either.

Maple necks are ok with white guards, but any color with a rosewood board is supposed to have a mint PG, as per Leo's orders from on high!

Normally I would vote for CAR, as most people have so far, but I think it's a little intense with all those switches so I voted for Black after seeing the mock up photos.

I might have voted for CAR if the pickups and knobs where a different color but I really love the blacked out look for this particular guard.

Red. But, whichever one you choose, I think black screws should hold the PG in place.
