    Hi from Germany
I owe this Jag and I found out, that the bridge is not usable.
I changed the bridge to a Schaller 477 3D6 Bridge and it works fine
In my review (even its german) you can find picture from the Mod
if you scroll down. Its a real enhancement changing the horrible original bridge to a Schaller.

This is a very funny coincidence. I just made my first post about my desire for the bridge you just replaced.

What problems did you experience with the original bridge?

With the old bridge the guitar sounds like a cigar box guitar comparing to now.

With the old bridge the sustain was not as well as now.

With the old bridge it was not possible to get this guitar in tune over the whole neck and not in tune over a certain time. Now it stays in tune once you have tuned it.

I do not know how people can live with that crap (original bridge).

Hint: If you use the same bridge as me Schaller 3D6 No. 477 than you have to cut out the pickguard with a jigsaw. The one hole in the back of the original bridge can be used as the middle hole of the new 477 bridge. So you do not need measurements to put the new bridge on the right place.

Drstrange, thank you very much for the report. You possibly saved me some money, and a lot of aggravation. I like the bridge on my Danelectro-made Silvertone 1457, except that it is fixed (cannot be adjusted to correct intonation). I thought the VM Jaguar HH bridge might be a good replacement for the unsatisfactory bridge on my Squier '51. While I'm disappointed to learn otherwise, I'm grateful to you for sparing me the much greater disappointment of finding out the hard way!
