My 1982 Squier JV I turned into a Mary Kaye strat. Basically the only JV part is the neck. Of course all the other JV parts are safely stored in a guitar bag.

My 1978 Strat. The color has really grown on me.

    Okay, today I'll go acoustic.

This is my 1973 Yairi DY-77. Bought when Jan and I 'went folk' as we saw drugs and dissolution take over the lives of so many of our fellow rockers.

I played this (plus an occasional bit of banjo), Jan played her `68 Fender Villager 12 string acoustic -- suitable for a future entry.

I knew not what I was buying by name. Kazuo Yairi was not then a known name. -Indeed so little was it known that the guitar spots "Alvarez" on the headstock, K.Y.'s later to be magic name was and is only found inside the guitar.

That changed over the years, especially for those guitars that were made during the Master Luthier's lifetime -- each under his supervision, and no rarely the touch of his hands.

The guitar has a lovely three-piece back...

Though never a 'case queen' the condition of this guitar shows what a little bit of care can mean. Despite almost fifty years out and always on the ready, she still looks beautiful as these photos taken just today attest. And as you'd expect, she plays and sounds as well and as good as she looks.

I missed yesterday! Got too busy and forgot. So here is today’s picture. Pink is not for everyone, but this is one of my favorite projects. The pickguard and pickups came from a forum member and the guitar was a black SE I bought off of a lady who had the guitar since she was a teenager. When I told her my plans she said she might like it better when I was done! but this one will stay in my collection.
