Got asked a few times to come play drums for this local group.
They do a lot of 80's rock, etc...some classic, and other stuff.

I haven't played drums since I was younger, but I grew up on them, and then I played a bit
with my last surf group, "Bongo Mosquito."

Looking forward to it, but it's been awhile...hope I don't screw it up.

Cool thing is that they have their own set and practice space so I don't need to buy drums. ;)

    hahahah!

It's one of those, "You're going to leave me alone to do homework iwth the kids, bathe them, feed, them, do laundry, dishes, etc. while you're out having fun?"

She complained LESS when I used to practice in Denver once/week, which is about an hour away. Dang...

That's awesome Horax, I had fun playing drums in a band the last couple years. I was in the same boat as you, hadn't played in a very long time. Took me 6 months to get confidence back. I feel it's helped my guitar skills too, being familiar with drumming makes it easier for me to lock into the groove

I practiced with a band for about 8mo. I invited my wife every time and took her with me whenever possible. Music is a team effort.

From personal experience I can say that's a crash and burn there Ken... unless that's how they met.

I know how difficult it is - it's a option I was throwing out there - my x would have loved to sing with me - I never asked and now she's my X - for other reasons LOL

If she's not into the incredible experience of making music - your right - it's not going to work.

Didn't go...actually not because of my wife, but because of a few things.
Most important is that I have surgery on Tuesday for a torn ulnar ligament in my elbow, and they're moving the ulnar nerve about 1.5" because my tricep has pushed it out of the way and it causes crazy pain. I lift weights 6 days/week, so it won't fix itself.

Anyway, I picked up my 18 month old and my arm SCREAMED in pain, so I thought it best to wait until after surgery to start beating on cymbals, etc...

I called the guys and they understood, so I will get with them when I'm back after the surgery...probabyl a few weeks or so.

Can't wait...I'd take the wife, but she has to watch the four kids. ;)
