I have this Ktone guitar my grandson came up with and I have it now. The humbucker pickups suck on it, I have asked this before. What is the cheapest but decent Gretsch style pickups can I get neck and bridge. I would like to get close to Gretsch I can get, they have to fit a regular humbucker hole. 94980977_545515016400746_3546483852132220928_n.jpg

The GFS Memphis set is going to be closer to Gretsch than the Nashville version

Maybe try these...great price! There is a demo video on Amazon. Judge for yourself if these are "Gretschy" enough for you:

I got the Nashville set for my Orange Affinity Tele, 'cause after watching this video, I thought that they sounded better, and more Gretschy, than the actual GFS Filtertron ones.

According to the GFS website, the Nashville is their Gretsch style set. The Memphis is their Rickenbacker set.

That's interesting. Different than the response I got when I emailed them.

Don't forget the Liverpool's, in both vintage and hotter winds. The vintage ones sound excellent.

Yeah, I went to look before replying, but I emailed them last year, when they didn't have descriptions like that and got a different story. Oh well. I didn't order either. I sold the guitar that I wanted to mod and bought an actual gretsch instead. Then I bought some GFS mini hukbuckers

I listened to all their samples before I made up my mind, and the Nashville and Liverpool vintage winds were the two best IMO, but the Nashville sounds livelier to me, and the Liverpool just sounds a little flatter. And the Memphis, which is supposed to be their Ricky clone, sounded brighter and thinner than either, more like a Strat.

Nashville's are ceramic & the Liverpool's AlNiCo, which would account for the distinct difference in sound.

What do you think of the Rockabilly set.

Judging by the sound clip, and the fact that they're patterned after the Dynasonic single coils, I'd say they're brighter and thinner sounding than the Nashville or Liverpool.

Thanks for this. I am close to ordering a set and would have gotten it wrong. Would you say that would apply for a 335-shaped object too?

Did you not read this whole thread? The Memphis is their Rickenbacker style pickup. The Nashville and Liverpool are their Filtertron style ones, and the Rockabilly is their Dynasonic style one.
