Edit: Neck fretboard is Aramanth or Purple Heart?

This guitar is sold on Amazon for $159. Not a lot of info about it, it appears to be made of chambered Mahogany with a Mahogany center block, and a curly maple top. I don’t see any evidence of a photo flame.
The finish work is better than expected with nothing that stands out as bad workmanship. The paint is clean and glossy with generic sounding P90s though they sound fine. The bridge is fantastic. The bone nut is cut deep but is fine.
The Neck is really decent. It is similar to a Tele. Thick D shape but an abrupt shoulder makes me want to sand it a little. No fret buzz and extremely minor fret work is needed. I noticed straight away that my thumb over technique improves most likely from the neck being a thick D shape. The neck has a mild figure to it in certain light and the fretboard material is fine but I suspect it is not rosewood. The tuners are worth swapping out.
Pots and switch are adequate and aren’t in need of replacement until failure.
It is made in Vietnam by the Inyen company who apparently does work for Harley Benton and others.
I have P.E. P90s with Alnico 3 ready for it when I’m not procrastinating.

I think the photo flame/printed tops are a Grote specific thing. I don't think I have seen any reports of that happening on these IVY/IYV guitars.

Looks like there’s enough meat on the headstock to cut it down to a more familiar shape. ;)

It looks gorgeous! Looks like a Harley Benton te-90 qm except for the headstock, and the price. 339360.jpg

Very nice looking guitar. Great price. Just another reminder that we’re in the golden age of the “cheap” guitar.

Looks sharp, Ken...I’m a sucker for Teles ...and f-holes...and P90s ...$159, wow...this a golden age to be a guitarist with on a budget. When I was a rockin’ teen (early to mid ‘70’s), you either got by with junk or ponied up for a Gib or Fender. Full disclaimer, I did score an old Harmony identical to what I played back in the day (lessons in ‘60’s/‘70’s, thrashed it until I broke the headstock around the age of 30....had I’d known the www and eBay were coming, I would’ve held onto it and bought a used neck...was like an $80 guitar new...should’ve kept the DeArmond gold foils, but, if I only knew then what I know now.
But, yeah, that looks nice, I’d give it a chance, for sure...except I told my wife “no more guitars,” and I mean it, mostly. I have a small variety and couldn’t justify another.

Enjoy it, am sure you can whip up some better pups for it

Thanks. Yep. I ended up changing them. Took all but a couple hours of having it to take it apart, clean it, polish the frets, and change the pups! It did sound fine though. Stock pups I believe are Alnico 2. I switched to A3 plain enamel in the neck and A2 plain enamel in the bridge, both at 8.5k. Nice soft high end. Hmmm I wonder if I can make some filter trons to put in there? Hmmm

Sweet Axe Ken! I have a IVY Mustang/Duosonic in my shopping cart right now...just waiting for a gift card swap to bump my balance up enough to cover it. I read up on Inyen and they seem to be a very legit OEM for several retailers. Korean ownership with manufacturing in Viet Nam. So far I have not read any reports from any buyers who thought their product was inferior to a Squier in a head-to-head comparison. Looking forward to getting my Model ISMF 200 VW:
