As I mentioned in my other thread, I have been eyeing this Ibanez for a while, since it's been on sale on MF for $249.

I ended up caving in when Guitar Center price matched it (just in case I hate it and want to return it), and I ordered one in metallic blue on Sunday.

Got delivered today, and it was a bit of a let down at first.
The guitar wasn't packed that well, and it was immediately clear that I had received a floor model.
No big deal I guess (first time buying new from GC), but there were several things that went too far, especially for something sold as new:
    - Hairline crack in the finish in the front
    - A small bump in the back
    - No whammy bar, tools, or manuals
    - Neck was a little grimy and strings were pretty corroded in several spots
    - The setup was atrocious, neck was bowed and action was like 4mm or so

Decided to not even try to set it up and return it, unless GC would give me some discount for the dings, and at least the whammy bar.

Got on the chat, just explained the issues and set a few pics, and ended up accepting $50 back, plus they will locate the whammy bar from the store it came from.

After that, I got to work, removed the strings, cleaned the neck and fretboard properly, put new strings and set everything up from scratch. This was my first Floyd Rose setup, and it wasn't really that more complicated than a regular Strat, same principle of balancing strings and springs tension applies.

So far it seems to be playing really well! Since I don't have the whammy bar yet, I haven't locked the nut yet, and I don't know how well the cheap bridge will hold tune, but it's floating and holding well for now.

All in all, I think it was worth it for $199

The color is nice. And all Ibanez guitars seem to play real nice. Funny that I have not owned one. Maybe because they seem to be everywhere, as in more of them than any other that I see on CL and other selling apps.

Congrats! I think you did real good. That’s a lot of guitar for $200! The color is cool as well.

Interesting, in my local CL and FBM there are barely any Ibanez for sale at any time, that's one of the reasons why I ended up going for a new one in order to scratch the itch.
