Hey everyone! I just got a really cool guitar. It is a Hagstrom Ultra Max. This guitar looks like a Les Paul but it is a bit different. The neck is a Fender scale length at 25.5 inches as opposed to most Gibsons and Gibson clones which are 24.75 inches. I think this makes for a unique sounding guitar! What do you think?

I agree the neck on this guitar feels like no other. It’s hard describe but it is a really solid positive feel.
That’s an interesting take on the name. I was going to say it could be called a Hagstrom Les Caster. Im thinking that would be a lawsuit in waiting!NICE "Hagsamcaster"!

It seems the Japanese were copying the Italians, Germans, and Swedes with their guitars in the 60’s and 70’s. The strange shapes along with all the plastic and interesting electronics definitely are part of that era.

Thank you! I am very impressed with it as well. The type of fingerboard they use is a composite wood Hagstrom calls “Resonator.” I think it makes a big difference in terms of the clarity of the notes. There aren’t any dead spots on the fingerboard. This is one of the few guitar “gimmicks” that I actually do buy into!!

Not sure because I'm less familiar with them, but I've seen some old (1970's) Hagstrom II f200 that are cool.
Something along those lines, but with humbuckers if possible.
I’m not sure if Hagstrom makes that type of guitar with humbuckers. That certainly would be in interest idea.
