    Just came in last night.

    2010-01-29.jpg

First pictures, dirty and couldn't be more unsetupped. Intonation off the wall, high action, stiff pots, and ¼" of DNA all over. Seller didn't play it for sure, or sold it because it sounded off all the time.

    There's work to do.

    Bad ...

It's two stacked half P90 bobbins, so basically a humbucker. It has a bad rap for sounding like ... caca. I haven't tried it yet, but will once my cleaning and setup is done.

I had a Gibson with P100's..I thought they were a bit muddy, but then again I did not change out the capacitor, which might have helped. I eventually sold it.

unless the tone control was bad on 10 (when it effectively bypasses the capacitor), a capacitor change only changes the low end of tone on the range of the pot’s span, and what it starts at on zero.

It is adjustable and I have it on other guitars. It does a great job and I like the minimalist look. It is also said to help sustain and bends, but that's another topic.

It doesnt show up well on my phone but yeah, it helps the look, that's what a Junior is supposed to look like, or as guitar builder extraordinaire, Melvyn Hiscock, (honest) calls them, the best guitars in the world, one pup, one vol, one tone,

Congratulations. That looks awesome. I have one of these in tv yellow. Fun and amazing guitars except the p100. I thought I liked the pickup at first but I found myself never picking it up because of its tone. Doesn't do humbucker as good as a regular humbucker or p90 as good as a p90.

    First hurdle ...

As I started rubbing the back of the neck with Scotch Brite, paint was coming off. So very likely, it was repainted. There's a slight crack on the finish both sides of the truss rod channel. So neck might have had a crack or break repaired, but the job seem to be well done. Hard to get rid of overspray on headstock front and back though.

This is the risk you take buying used unseen. Maybe why it was only $275 CAD, but no fuss, it'll very likely be a keeper.

The cracks may be in the paint,I think those were painted with nitro laquer .
