As most know I have a Ibanez ES140, I loaded it with Fleor single coils. I thought I would be different and put a humbucker size P90 in the bridge. I love the guitar but cannot bond with those pickups at all. I knew the humbucker size P90 would not sound completely like a regular P90, but to me It don't even come close. I am going back to a Humbucker in the bridge. My question which cheaper pickups do you think are the best, I am retired and live on a limit income. Which do you think is better Guitar Madness or GFS are well I don't like the Fleor pickups. 119948185_646403196311927_5007745160482722766_n.jpg 119703562_646403139645266_2191130953458881890_n.jpg

The guitar might have something to do with it. Did you try different heights ? Sometimes, that's all it takes. I haven't heard a bad P90 up to now. It musn't be harder to get a P94 right. But you're right, they never sound exactly like a P90. If you look under the cover, you'll discover a larger single coil, not a P90 coil.

I've compared Guitar Madness to Gibson P94 and couldn't see much of a difference.

Look how low you have the humbucker size P90 - they sound best closer to the strings. The way you have it now, they will sound lifeless and missing the growl.....

Have you tried adjusting the POLE pieces higher rather than the whole pickup? That's what gives a P90 its growl....

Remember that a Strat like bridge is very low on the body, nothing like a TOM on a LP or SG.
