I put some Lucinda tunes on this evening, then just came across this sad bit of news by chance...

    https://pitchfork.com/news/lucinda-williams-suffered-a-stroke-last-year/

Apparently she's recovering, but still unable to play guitar and is dealing with pain...hopefully she fully recovers and gets back on stage.

I don't know more than the basics about her career and catalogue, but I enjoy her music. She's such a distinctive voice, and she just feels like the heart of America to me.

Car Wheels on a Gravel Road still slaps (as the kids say), album full of bangers

Seems the news was only released very recently, kept private up until that

We listen to her quite a bit but I didn't know about her health issues. Ghosts of Highway 20 is one of my favs.

That's sad news! She did a great cover of Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" on a complilation I had back in the early 90s. I've been a fan ever since.

  10. I listened to and played the hell out of that cd 20 years (or more) ago.
Always wanted to see her live. Cheers, Barrie

Didn't know about this, saw her here on Long Island at the WHB PAC a couple of years ago. Real nice small venue with great sound. She put on a great show.

Ray Wylie Hubbard has been co-writing with several country performers. To show their appreciation Lucinda and Eric Church surprised him when they showed up to sing backup on his recent cd. In an interview Ray thanked them and mentioned
" and they haven't even billed me yet".
Hope she make a full recovery.
