Since you have the 2 on the left that are (or should be) close to the same......can you give an opinion and comparison between the two? I am looking for a junior type of guitar with a stop tailpiece/bridge.

I haven’t tried that model, but I’ve got an RLG-55 (the cheapest model they make, and I believe the only non-MIJ one) and it’s easily as good or better than any Epiphone I’ve played. The MIJ stuff should be even better still.

I guess the trademark issue is that they use a Gibson-style headstock, including the logo fonts.

I had this Epiphone '59 for a week last year before returning it. Ended up getting a Gretsch G5222, which feels as comfy as the Epi felt awkward to play. Guess I'm just not a Les Paul guy.

Harley Benton SC-450 P90 GT (gold top). The P90 sounded good but was to noisy. Put in a alnico 5 Firebird pickup made by a guy in Australia in the neck. And a Gibson Firebird pickup (out of a Gibson Firebird X) in the bridge. Home made aluminium pickguard. Switchcraft toggle.

Took out the mini pots and installed 300K linear Gibson pots for volume and 500K audio taper for tone and wired it 50's style

Another of my black one since I finally got the cream pickup rings replaced. All black as it should be.

The Epiphone is a really nice guitar with sub-par electronics. Note that this one is an "Epiphone Custom" model with a set neck. I bought it really cheap years ago and upgraded it with a Lollar pickup and CTS/Switchcraft electronics. In that form, it totally held its own with the Gibson, just sounding subtly brighter. The stock Epiphone P-100 (stacked P-90) was okay, but lacked horsepower.

I've put '50s wiring in my two previous Epis and will be doing the same with the LP100 that I have posted above. How do you like that set-up?

Thank you for the reply...If I were to get one it would be minus the electronics or just the body and neck and build it a little at a time. My biggest worry is that it would still be too far (a noticeable) difference between the two. I am not a guitar snob and have a little of everything, but in cases like this (if it made a difference) I would go with the G brand if it really did have some magic to the build.

This is right at the unboxing. Note the 6 strings. I hadn't yet 'Keef-ed' it.

I'm one of those guys who never buys a guitar without playing it. They're not all created equal, so you have to evaluate them individually.
