Myself I would sell the Les Paul and this would replace it. Same wood of Les Paul f63slmiwaqfhwayezark.jpg j0k9gwovowtmgrcrnnzd.jpg

Ah, I see. It's a beautiful guitar, inspires to grab it and play some cool stuff. I hope you can find a way to make it feel more comfortable to you.

Maybe, just maybe a lp ain't for you.
I sold a beautiful epi 1960 tribute because I just couldn't get comfortable with it.
    57 humbuckers w coil tap
    Sounded fantastic
Thing weighed too much, dug into my ribs and super unbalanced on my lap.
Super guitar for the right person...just not me
I still have a sg so I get some of those sounds

I don't like the boxy edge in my ribs either. My solution rsides in the LP Epi Ultra (and others).

My PRS Soapbar SE has the same plus a thinner body. Both are around 6.5 lbs.

Yeah, like you I still prefer to have the guitar with the strap even when sitting. Whether standing or sitting the guitar is always in the best position for me.

Sure, have some ribs removed .....

Otherwise, buy a better guitar, a MIA Fender Stratocaster.

    • Many photos of sitting players is for the photo session and not how they actually played. Relatively few people perform sitting like B.B. King did later in his career. I echo a couple of suggestions - 1) Stand up; 2) loosen your strap a little and sit up straight; 3) Maybe a LP isn't for your body configuration. I wouldn't buy/play a guitar that was uncomfortable.

I like Gary's suggestion- Tele shape with tummy cut, set neck, mahogany body and neck with better upper fret access, better bridge, easier to re-string, and I bet it costs less than a Gibson LP too. The only thing it doesn't have is separate volume and tone controls.

Playing a Tele with a broken rib was an interesting experience...

Scale lenght and fretboard radius though doesn't compute in the equation.

Except 25.5" scale length and 9.5" radius is better than 24.75" and 12" every time in every way!
