Knob Search

Installed a set of CTS pots on my newest Tele Partscaster build. For the first time, went with the slit shafts . Now I'm having trouble finding tele-style knobs (black) to fit the 24 spline shafts. Anybody have a good source for these?

You can find those Brass Sleeves that go over Splines, then you can use the Larger Diameter Knobs!

I like GFS' version of the Deluxe knobs, they have the full "VOLUME" word printed on them instead of "VOL."

Those look like pilgrim hats, albeit minus the buckle. Witch hats are pointed.

My Squier Super Sonic has splined/push-on J Bass/Mustang knobs, those look good.

That's true, but they've been called that before by others. Perhaps cuz "witch's hat" sounds cooler than "pilgrim's hat," LOL!

They can be used with split shafts too, just have the screw go into the gap in the split. Or alternatively, install a bushing that goes between the pot shaft and the knob. I usually don't bother with that either.

If you are looking for black knurled knobs for a tele, guitar fetish has them for about 12 dollars. They have set screws

I have a few on some Strat builds I have done.

if you use a set screw on a split shaft, line up the screw with the slot. otherwise, tightening the screw will push one side of the shaft in. learned this from "a friend."

I think I've mentioned this before, the knobs on my First Act AL222's go to 12, one louder than Spinal Tap. That right there's funny...

And I'd add, just baby tight, not even monkey tight, and a drop of clear nail polish wouldn't hurt...except maybe the paint/guard.
