I have a drawer full of cameras that I thought I needed. I enjoy photography but it is far more expensive to me than music is for what I get out of it.

Just as a way of background I am a retired 'pro' imager. Had two studios under my command (one my own, the other at a major client facility). Two color and b/w darkrooms too. All "pro" gear of course. (Nikon, Pentax and Rollie) But when I retired all that 'pro' gear was put into boxes where it still remains and I chose to go equipment 'light.'

Look at my images here on this thread. The majority were taken with an iPhone -- and not even a newer model at that. The rest were taken with small sensor Canon cameras and some some carefully chosen lenses for that system.

The "why?" of my choice was and is easy. And it well matches what brought me here to Squier-Talk all those years ago, for the same is and was so with my guitars and amps. It is the realization that the results in truth depend on me -- not on my gear. And I, again, chose to put my focus (no pun intended) on the same.

To "see." To "hear." To think, feel and give reign.

Much focus on gear in either domaine is IMO unproductive. Its "fun" - yes. But not nearly as much fun as the creative process. Eyes. Ears. Brain. Heart.

When it comes down to it we all seem to take the same types of scenery shots. Some of these had to be scanned with a cheap scanner from film. They didn't fare well. Rally (29).jpg Rally (25).jpg P1040149 M2.jpg Majestic Squirrel .jpg Landing goose.jpg

Saddle Store, Saddle, AR. On the South Fork of the Spring River in the Ozarks. Once upon a time it had a grist mill, church houses, and post office.

I am not sure when this store closed. In the mid - late '70s I rode my horse there many times. It was about three miles of dirt road, three miles of blacktop from home. It could have been the backdrop for a series of Norman Rockwell Americana paintings, inside and out.

Farmers and country folks of all ages would get simple groceries and household stuff there. The next closest grocery store was about ten miles away. Two things engrained betwix my ears are old men wearing overalls playing checkers and a Coke cooler inside. All the associated sounds and smells too.

There were two relatively modern gas pumps on the side of the store. The front area was reserved for parking, including a hitching post.

Driving to Boise this morning for my eye appointment, the sun was blood red from the Cali fires. It didn't show up that red in the pics but it was amazing.

Tonight's blood red sunset. I wish the pic would show more though.
