I can't recall where, but I read these are the same pickups as the new Affinity Jazzmasters, which yes are rather P-90 like (similar to J Mascis Jazzmaster pup's)

    They do look real nice

I like two color burst, but 3 color bursts, not so much.

I'm hoping they aren't neck heavy.

Well; don't have one...but Fender describes them as Alnico single coil pickups. I HATE that description, because Fender "avoids" the definition "P90's". Makes me think their covering their butt, because P90's ARE single coil...but THESE may not be P90's because they're afraid to say so. And seems like they COULD and WOULD, because they have models that DO have P90's in them, and they tend to brag about that for sales purposes.

It's not critical they sound like a true P90 anyhow. My Epi LP Special has that covered.

These have been out a few years in various colors, and yes @Hugh I found other sources that conform these are very P-90esque pickups

No they are not p90s they arr Jazzmaster pickups. Fender and Squier have had and currently have various p90 guitars. This isn't one of them.

I can confirm. I picked up a 2020 Cabronita in Fiesta Red a few months ago. I like the pups, and they are quite similar to what is in the J Mascis i have. But since buying it, I also picked up an Epi LP Special 1 P90 and those pups i like a LOT better.

That said, my Cabronita has a ghost in the machine - very static-y - even after i had it serviced... amp, cord, settings, doesn't matter and annoying as hell. The guy i bought it from messed with the pickups (not clear exactly what he did), so it's either take it in again  and try to figure out the issue OR... sell or trade...

I'm opting to try and trade it for one of the 2021 models in Lake Placid Blue!! :D We'll see how that works out!

See my other comments, but I really like the guitar, and really like the Fiesta Red (now discontinued). Very playable, lightweight, good tones for what the pups are. Not as much sustain as the J Mascis Jazzmaster, as to be expected from a semi-hollow, but it resonates really well... whether i keep the FR one or trade for the LPB, i'm tempted to put 11s on it.

Meanwhile, it's just what it says it is imo - a paranormal Telecaster. It's also my second Thinline and comparatively speaking I'd put it on par with my 2019 Squier CV 60s in terms of quality, etc.

Disclaimer: my math isn't legit. But my GAS math?

So you say your credit card is 9% interest? Nine just happens to be 10% of 90. If we take that 10% and add it to the 90% we get 100% surety that you need it!!!
What are you waiting for ?;)

I personally don’t see the appeal here. But it is still a good looking guitar. Bet it sounds good to. If it floats your boat, go for it.
